Megan sighed to herself, slightly. It wasn’t quite as fun to walk the beaches alone anymore. Strange how things could change so easily. Not too long ago, she had always walked alone and been content. Yet, now it felt like something was missing.

Which kind of felt a little pathetic, given that she was not exactly long-term separated from that person. It was precisely why she had come here alone. Not just to go for a walk and clear her head a little, but also to prove to herself that she could be fine enough on her own. A little trip down memory lane just for herself. Because she could not exactly monopolize the other’s time to an unhealthy extent.

Another sigh. Somehow, she felt a little old. People all around her had made these kinds of experiences much earlier in life. It kind of reminded her of the impetus for her journey. That had also been the feeling of having missed out on something in the years up to that point. Somehow, she managed to extend this pre-emptive mid-life crisis even to something positive, which just felt a little more pathetic.

She decided to simply let her eyes wander over the waves as she trudged through the sands for the time being, trying to actually clear her head after all. Overthinking was her biggest problem, after all. In battle, she could just forget all of that and act more on instinct and gut-feeling. Maybe she should try to somehow get herself to apply that to everyday life. Or was that a bad idea? Was she overthinking the matter of overthinking things? Possibly.
